HYDERABAD: Students who completed BCom from Osmania University before 2010 and Kakatiya University before 2011 have become ineligible for the District Selection Committee exam, due to changes in the mandatory subjects to be studied at graduation level in the notification. The six subjects mentioned in the notification are Economics, Business Economics; Business Organisation and Management; Statistics, Business Statistics, Quantitative Techniques; Financial Services, Banking and Insurance; Accountancy, Financial Accounting and Fundamentals of Information Technology. Out of these, BCom students have to study at least four. As BEd candidates are ineligible for the Second Grade Teacher posts, BCom students could sit for School Assistants posts for social science. However, the notification of subject names has made many ineligible for the DSC exam.
The problems have arisen in KU because the subject of Financial Services, Banking and Insurance given in the notification was called Banking and Financial System till 2008. Another subject Business Organisation was called Industrial Organisation Management till 2008 while Fundamentals of Information Technology was called as Introduction to Computer Systems.
