Param Vir Chakra Abdul Hameed Memorial restored

BANGALORE: Rich tributes were paid to Param Vir Chakra Shaheed Abdul Hameed on the commemoration of his 46th martyrdom at the renovated memorial park at his native village Dhamupur in Ghazipur District of UP. Flags of Honour Foundation ensured Abdul Hameed's Memorial - which was in state of neglect, was repaired and restored ahead of Abdul Hameed's death anniversary on September 10. The renovation work included new statue of the martyr, stage, memorial tower, painted gates, repair of boundary walls and the landscaping the one acre park of all which were completed.Rasoolan Bibi, widow of Shaheed Abdul Hameed PVC, expressed her gratitude to the Flags of Honour Foundation for the ready support in restoring the Memorial. On the occasion of 46th martyrdom of PVC Abdul Hameed, more than one thousand people assembled at the renovated  memorial singing patriotic songs and paid tribute to the martyr.Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Member of Parliament and Founder of Flags of Honour Foundation said, “Flags of Honour Foundation is proud to helped restore the memorial of Abdul Hameed — one of India's bravest sons and hope the memorial will serve as an inspiration of courage and leadership to the youth about the bravery, valour and the supreme sacrifice made by Shaheed Hameed."Memorial: State of neglectThe memorial built to honour the bravery and martyrdom of Shaheed Abdul Hameed, Param Vir Chakra was lying in state of neglect with broken walls, battered lawns and a bruised statue reflecting the disdain and disrespect towards the Armed Forces personnel and particularly towards Hameed, one of India's bravest soldiers. Taking note of this, the Flags of Honour Foundation had decided to undertake all works to repair and renovate the Memorial and bring it back to original glory before September 10th — the death anniversary of Shaheed Abdul Hameed.Abdul Hameed's MemorialLocated at his village in Dhamupur in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, Shaheed Abdul Hameed's Memorial is place where people pay respect to the brave soldier who single handedly repulsed the attack of Pakistan's attack in 1965 war in the Khemkaran sector destroying the enemy's Patton Tanks with his RCL gun and was martyred in the fight. Company Quarter Master Havildar Abdul Hameed’s brave action inspired his comrades to put up a gallant fight and to beat back the heavy tank assault by the enemy. The grateful nation honoured Abdul Hameed with Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration.
