Without the implementation of performance-based incentives, the performance appraisal exercise of the government employees would be incomplete, K M Chandrasekhar, vice-chairman of Kerala State Planning Board has said.
He was delivering the inaugural address at the curtain raiser event of the Kerala Management Association (KMA) here on Tuesday.
He added that the state lacked a system to distinguish the performing officers from the non-performing ones.
Chandrasekhar pointed out the importance of district-wise planning in the overall state planning. He said that thrust would be given to district planning.
Without a proper district plan, the money allotted through the various government schemes would go waste, he added.
Calling for a significant improvement in governance, Chandrasekhar said that people should take into account the performance in governance rather than caste and communal factors while exercising their franchise.
“The Information Technology revolution has totally changed the face of governance in the country. Consensus building is the major aspect of governance now. As population increases, the importance of delegation of powers also increases,” he added. He further stated that the corporates should help the government in bringing about a positive change in governance.
On the occasion, T K Jose, chairman of Coconut Development Board, said that the ‘elected and selected’ officials working together is the need of the hour.
Kerala Management Association president S R Nair and honorary secretary K Rajan George were also present on the occasion.
