Peter Mukerjea brought to Delhi for probe in Sheena Bora murder case
Peter, who was arrested on November 19, has been charged with murder, abduction and criminal conspiracy.

In a late night development in the Sheena Bora murder case probe, media baron Peter Mukerjea was brought to Delhi on Monday. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has suspected that analysis of financial transactions will help them crack the case and is likely to be quizzed on the same today.

Earlier in the day, the CBI was granted Peter's custody till 26 November. Peter, who was arrested on November 19, has been charged with murder, abduction and criminal conspiracy.

CBI sources remained tight lipped about reasons which triggered this sudden move but confirmed that Mukerjea will be further examined here. One possible reason being speculated is that the agency might want to carry out a lie-detection test on Mukerjea which is available at Central Forensic Science Laboratory here in the wake of his apparent flip flop on various questions.

Mumbai also has a small scientific aid unit of CBI which also carries out polygraph test.

Sheena's mother Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai are listed in the charge sheet in the case for the murder that took place in April 2012 and are in judicial custody in Mumbai. Sheena (24) was Indrani's daughter from an earlier marriage.

CBI has claimed financial transaction as the motive behind the murder of Sheena and Peter during his interrogation disclosed investments of crores of rupees made by him and Indrani.

The agency has also claimed that it has across some important information and incriminating documents which are very crucial for the purpose of investigation about which Peter had exclusive so he needed to be interrogated thoroughly.

During the arguments, Peter Mukerjea's lawyers Amit Desai and Kaushal Mor had objected to demand of further custody, saying that crucial part of the investigation was over three days ago when the CBI filed a charge-sheet against Indrani, Sanjeev Khanna and Shyamvar Rai.

"He (Peter) has cooperated with the police and CBI whenever he was called from the date of Indrani's arrest till his arrest," advocate Desai said.

Further, CBI already had Peter's financial record, and there is no fresh case made for his custody, Desai said.
