SANGAREDDY: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that six more global educational institutions would come up in addition to the existing prestigious ones in Hyderabad soon. The chief minister inaugurated the first phase works of the IIT on the 600-acre campus at Kandi in Sangareddy mandal on Thursday.Addressing students, he said that India was ahead of developed countries like America in the technological education.Kiran Kumar reminded that US president Barack Obama, during his tours to universities in his nation, was always stating that China and India were progressing ahead in technological education. Development will be possible only when latest technology is brought to the use of rural folk in villages, he said.He urged students to put in efforts to develop the technological sector.The Congress government, he said, introduced the fee reimbursement scheme to ensure that poor students also pursue higher education.About Rs 3,500 crore is being spent towards implementation of the programme, he informed.Former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy proposed to establish IIT at Basara after it was granted to the state but later withdrew from the proposal after several people told him that the institute should be easily accessible to Hyderabad to enable movement of professors.He said that the IIT in Kandi has the brand name of Hyderabad. ‘We will call it IIT-Hyderabad in Medak.’
