PM attacks Congress, says those asking for an account of our work never bothered about the country
Modi hit out at the Congress leaders asking them what they had done for the country in 60 years of their rule.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in the newly created Palghar district of Maharashtra on the final day of campaigning on Monday. Modi has been leading Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) campaign in the state for the upcoming Assembly polls on October 15.

Modi hit out at the Congress leaders asking them what they had done for the country in 60 years of their rule. "They ask me what I have done in 60 days, have they accounted for what they have done for the fishermen or our poor daughters or our sons rotting in jails for so many years," asked Modi.

Modi further lashed out at the Congress government in Maharashtra reminding the crowd of India's tribal population. "It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who ensured resources for the tribals. He set up a ministry to look after them. We too have set aside funds for their development," said Modi.

"The people, all of you are my high command. I will give answers to you for everything we have done," he said.

Modi said that the fishermen of Palghar shared a special bond with those of Gujarat as they had been victimised by Pakistan. Modi said that it was he who had picked up this issue with the Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif. "I told the Pakistan PM that you not only imprison the fishermen but also take their boats. It was after that conversation that for the first time in 10 years, Pakistan released over 50 boats," said Modi.

Modi moved on to talk about how terrorists were beheading people just to scare the world. He also said that he had worked hard towards securing the safe release of women from Kerala who had been trapped in Iraq.

Modi urged the people present in the rally to vote for the BJP. "This is a new district and it needs a lot of support. Elect a BJP government with full majority and it will become among the best districts," concluded Modi.

He promised to stand shoulder to shoulder with everyone in developing Maharashtra. Finally, he talked about his mission which would ensure that every family in the country had a house by 2022.

Counting of votes will take place on October 19 in Maharashtra. BJP is contesting the Assembly elections alone after the end of its 25-year-old alliance in the state with Shiv Sena.

The party decided to rope in Modi and make him their star campaigner. PM Modi who has been addressing several rallies in the state since the start of the campaigning on October 2 has no doubt mastered the art of eloquent public speaking.
