More than Rs 30,000 in cash and jewellery whose worth is yet to be estimated were taken away by the robbers.

New Delhi: Two youths posing as courier delivery boys allegedly committed armed robbery on Wednesday at a house in Outer Delhi's Rohini area and also thrashed its elderly woman occupant in the process, police said. Adding a 'filmi' touch to the crime, the robbers are also said to have painted the message 'don is back' on one of the walls of the house before leaving.

The incident took place when Kamla Kataria (58), wife of a businessman, Balbir Kataria, was alone in her second-floor flat in the building which is located in G-Block of Rohini Sector-3. "As she answered the door, the two youths introduced themselves as courier delivery boys to gain entry into the house. As soon as they got in, they pulled out a pistol and asked her to hand over cash and jewellery," police said.

When she resisted, they thrashed her and tied her to a chair before going on to ransack the house. More than Rs 30,000 in cash and jewellery whose worth is yet to be estimated were taken away by them, police added.

As they were about to leave, one of the youths picked up a can of paint which was lying in the house and painted 'don is back' in bold letters in one of the bedrooms. The woman raised an alarm after the youths had left and police was informed at around 7 PM.

She was rushed to a hospital where her condition is said to be out of danger. A case of robbery has been registered, police said, adding, however, that they have not been able to trace or identify any of the alleged culprits.
