Expressing displeasure over conditions of hotels managed by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) Tourism Minister Anand Singh said on Thursday, “We will soon bring more private participation to improve them.”
The Tourism Department has leased 31 hotels and the KSTDC is managing 25.
“Not many of these hotels are in good condition and we need to take steps to improve them,” he told reporters after releasing a booklet on tourist spots in Uttara Kannada.
The minister is convening a meeting of the department officials and hotel managements after October 10 to revaluate the lease agreements and also to discuss the modalities to bring in more private players.
“Since many of our hotels are given on lease for a nominal price we need to make appropriate changes to generate more revenues.”
