Rapist gets 7 years jail

PHULBANI: A rape accused was sentenced to seven years imprisonment by Assistant Sessions Judge recently. Malaya Sahu of Kelapada village under Phringia police limits raped a girl of the village in her house. When her parents learnt about the incident from the victim they called a village meeting where the accused did not admit to the crime.The girl then filed a complaint in the Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate court who directed the Phringia police to investigate and submit a report.After submission of a report the case taken up by police. The Assistant Session Judge, Phulbani, Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, scrutinised evidences of 13 witnesses and medical report before sentencing  Sahu and fining him Rs 1,000.
