THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Candidates who appeared for the test conducted by the PSC for recruitment in the State Cooperative Bank (SCB) under category no.118/2010, Clerk Grade I (Part II Society category), have complained that the Public Service Commission (PSC) was showing discrimination after issuing a Gazette notification (dated 30/4/2010) for recruitment stating that vacancies would be filled with candidates appearing from primary cooperative societies and open quota on a 50:50 ratio. The candidates who had appeared for the OMR test conducted on July 2, 2011 and appeared for the certificate verification on April 16 were told that their certificates could not be examined as the category mentioned in the notification was reserved for employees of District Cooperative Banks only.Speaking to Express, candidates A S Manoj, Raju M and others said that in the notification it had been clearly mentioned that those employees who had three years permanent service with any of the primary cooperative societies could apply. There had also been an instruction to produce service certificate from the Assistant Registrar (General). The candidates had submitted a memorandum to the secretary, PSC to review its decision and consider their request and publish the rank list including the candidates who are the employees of primary cooperative societies also. The candidates said that as per the notification, there were 50 vacancies for the post. But now the vacancies were estimated to be around 200.Alleging discrimination, they said that some candidates, who were employees of the primary cooperatives, were allowed to produce the certificates for verification and given receipts. There were 17 signatories to the memorandum submitted to the PSC secretary. When contacted, PSC chairman K S Radhakrishnan said that the issue was not yet brought to his notice. He said he would look into the matter if any one brings it to his attention.
