MADURAI: The Director General of Police (DGP) and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tallakulam, were directed by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday to file their replies to a plea seeking CB-CID probe into the death of a Class X girl student, in the Adi Dravidar girls hostel in Chokkikulam.Soundarapandian, of Kuthoor panchayat in Madurai, in his petition before the Bench, had said that his second daughter Pandeeswary was staying in the girls hostel of the Corporation school in Chokkikulam. On July 9, last year, the wardens in the hostel Valarmathi and Petchiammal informed him that Pandeeswary had died of electric shock. When he saw the body at the mortuary in Government Rajaji Hospital, he found injuries on the left cheek and right chest. There were no signs of electric shock. He alleged that she had been molested and the people were trying to hide the crime. The then District Collector Kamaraj and Minister for Adi Dravida Welfare Thamilarasi assured proper inquiry and wanted the body to be cremated. He refused and buried the body. Though he has been requesting action for the past 12 months, no action had been taken. The statement of the hostel authorities were contradictory. There is a party office and an auto stand near the hostel and he alleged that there was a possibility that persons from the office or auto stand could have sexually assaulted the girl and then murdered her. The petitioner said that if the Tallakulam police probed the case, there was no possibility of truth being revealed. He had therefore, prayed for a CB-CID inquiry into the death of his daughter.
