Restaurant Denies Entry To Street Children, Delhi Govt Orders Probe
The restaurant denied the allegation - and instead blamed the kids of creating nuisance inside the restaurant.

Shiv Sagar restaurant in posh Cannaught Place in Delhi allegedly refused entry to some street children who were there for a lunch.

The lunch was sponsored by an activist called Sonali Shetty. However, she claimed that the restaurant denied the entry of kids saying they were wearing dirty clothes.

"Didi brought us to have food but uncle threw us out from here. Didi even said she will pay the bill but even then we were not allowed to eat and then we had food at Sarvana Bhavan," said one of the kids.

The restaurant denied the allegation - and instead blamed the kids of creating nuisance inside the restaurant.

"A lady had brought a few kids along with her to the restaurant but they started creating a lot of 'tamasha' inside," Roma Malhotra, a representative of the restaurant, said.

"As a restaurateur we have the right reserved to deny service if our guest are getting disturbed. We don't think we did anything wrong," she asserted.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has ordered probe.

"This is a typical colonial mindset and can't be tolerated. We have ordered the New Delhi DM to enquire and report within 24 hours," he said.

Reacting sharply to the incident, Sisodia even threatened to cancel the restaurant's licence if it was found guilty.
