BANGALORE: Arrest of five persons on suspicion of planning a robbery led to solving of a murder case reported in 2006.The murder came to light when Banasawadi police arrested five persons in HRBR Layout in the wee hours of October 3.The accused were identified as Prakash (27) of Andrahalli, Shekhar alis Sendhi (20) of Herohalli, Ranjith alias Maddanna (32) of Kengeri, Prasanna (20) of Chikkabanaswadi and Muthu Kumar (22) of Banasawadi.During interrogation, Prakash confessed to killing his wife Roopa in 2006 for not getting any dowry.“Along with Sendhi, Shivanna, who is absconding, and Shivakumar alias Payasa, who died in a road accident in 2008, he plotted the murder.In 2006, he took Roopa on a tour to Chikmagalur where they dropped her into Bhadra Canal.Her body was later found within Bhadravathi rural police station limits and a case of unnatural death of an unidentified woman was registered,” the police said.The other accused, Maddanna, has been identified as an associate of rowdies Shimoga Naga and Prashanth, who was killed in a police encounter last year.Maddanna has been accused in various cases registered with several police stations in the city
