THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar on Friday said that the State Government had initiated a project for development of tourism infrastructure at Ponmudi with a Central assistance to the tune of Rs 2.70 crore.Anil Kumar, while replying to a submission by Koliyakode Krishnan Nair of the CPM in the Assembly, said that one of the problems hindering development of tourism infrastructure at Ponmudi was that the Tourism Department had only small areas of land under its possession there. The rest of the land is under the Forest Department. As a result, tourism development in Ponmudi can be effectively carried out with the support of the Forest Department only. The projects planned under the Central Government- assisted projects included development of walkway, rain shelters, lightings and landscaping.
