New Delhi: Samsung Electronics is beefing up its tablet range with a competitor to Apple's iPad Mini that sports a pen for writing on the screen. The Samsung Galaxy Note 510 tablet is now up for pre-order on the Samsung India e-store. The tablet is priced at Rs 30,900.

Originally, the device was unveiled at the MWC 2013 as the Galaxy Note 8.0. Samsung is not calling the tablet "Galaxy Note 8.0" in India, and is marketing the device as the Galaxy Note 510 instead.

The Galaxy Note 510 has an 8-inch screen, putting it very close in size to the Apple's tablet, which was launched in November with a 7.9-inch screen. The Galaxy Note 510 tablet is powered by an Exynos quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, and runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

The tablet has an internal storage of 16GB. Its memory is expandable up to 64 GB using a microSD card. The Galaxy Note 510 fills a gap in Samsung's line-up of pen-equipped devices between the Galaxy Note II smartphone, with its 5.5-inch screen, and the Galaxy Note 10.1, a full-size tablet. The device will come packed with a 4,600mAh Li-ion battery.

It includes various S Pen optimised features including Air View, Popup Note, Popup Video, Shape Match, Formula Match and Idea Sketch.
