SC order on prosecution: Govt to seek review
The Supreme Court set a deadline of 4 months for the government to decide on the prosecution of public servants.

New Delhi: The government is set to file a review petition against a recent Supreme Court order that set a deadline for granting sanction to prosecute public servants.

Sources have said that the government has decided to act on the Attorney General's advice.

He has reportedly advised the government to challenge the Supreme Court that set a deadline of four months for the government to decide on any application by a citizen asking for permission to prosecute a government servant.

Last week the Prime Minister had sought an opinion from the Attorney General on the issue.

The apex court had also said that if the government failed to decide on a representation within the 4-month period, then the permission would be deemed to have been given.
