Seminar on food safety

KOCHI: The Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the Asian Institute of Food Safety Management organised a seminar on ‘Food Safety for Food Handlers’ on Tuesday. Inaugurating the seminar, N M Sherafudeen, KCCI director and convener for the sub committee on tourism and health services, said that developing knowledge on food hygiene was important.AIFSM principal C P S Menon, Synergy Systems Food Quality Laboratory and Research Centre deputy chief executive O Raghunath and Synergy Systems MD B Jacob handled sessions on different aspects of food safety, including food poisoning and food borne diseases, micro organisms which cause hazards in foods, how to prevent food contamination, and the storage of food.
