Seven districts of MP receive torrential monsoon rains

After monsoons hit Madhya Pradesh last month, seven districts received more than normal rainfall, it was officially announced in Bhopal on Thursday.

The districts where more than normal rainfall was recorded are Tikamgarh, Sidhi, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Harda, Betul and Shivpuri, an official release issued in Bhopal said.

Rains were normal in Rajgarh, Katni, Mandla, Khargone, Gwalior, Anooppur, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Ashoknagar, Shahdol, Alirajpur, Guna, Hoshangabad, Bhopal, Raisen, Vidisha, Umaria, Datia, Sagar, Damoh, Balaghat, Rewa, Chhindwara, Barwani, Sehore, Indore, Seoni, Dindori, Jhabua and Singrauli, the release said.

The rain deficient districts are Chhattarpur, Sheopur, Neemuch, Ujjain, Dhar, Shajapur, Satna, Mandsaur, Morena, Panna, Dewas, Bhind, Ratlam and Agar-Malwa, the release said.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh State Chief Secretary, Antony De Sa reviewed the situation in these districts through video-conferencing, it said.

It was informed that so far 35 people lost their lives and 1,174 houses suffered damages due to rains in different districts of the state.

Flood control rooms were set up in 32 districts which are prone to floods, it was reported.

A separate report said that due to heavy rains, 15 out of total 21 gates of Bargi Dam in Jabalpur district were opened to release excess water in the reservoir.
