MYSORE: The Women Harassment Enquiry Committee (WHEC) of the University of Mysore (UoM) has arrived at the unanimous conclusion that Prof Shivabasavaiah, the former HoD of Department of Zoology, UoM, is guilty of sexually harassing his project fellow M Saritha. “Sexual harassment is a heinous act and has tarnished the image of UoM and the teaching fraternity... people now look with suspicion at the behaviour of teachers. The guilty should be punished with rigorous imprisonment,” the WHEC led by Yashodhara has recommended to the Registrar of UoM in its report. The report states that the the petitioner Saritha went to the extent of committing suicide due to harassment from the professor, which was clear from the evidence submitted during enquiry.
