Shoaib to prove fitness in trial match
Shoaib to prove fitness in trial match
The PCB is not much impressed with Shoaib Akhtar performance in the Super Series and has said that Shoaib's comeback to the team would hinge on his form and fitness.

Lahore Notwithstanding his participation in the Super Series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stressed only a fully fit Shoaib Akhtar would be welcome in the side for the home series against England and for that, the injury-prone pacer would have to play a trial match.

Talking to media persons in Lahore, PCB Director (Cricket Operation) Salim Altaf said that both Shoaib and leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmedwould have to prove their form and fitness in the trial match to be played here at the Gaddafi Stadium from October 26.

Altaf said that Mushtaq had a decent county season and he hoped the leggie to do well in the trial match also.

However, he seemed less optimistic about Shoaib Akhtar and said even though the enigmatic pacer had played in the Super Series, PCB was not much impressed and Shoaib's comeback to the team would hinge on his form and fitness in the all-important trial match.

Meanwhile, Mushtaq Ahmed seems poised for a comeback in the side for the series against England with skipper Inzamam-ul Haq and coach Bob Woolmer rooting for him.

Mushtaq is part of Pakistan's proposed two-pronged leg-spin attack against the English visitors and is likely to be seen inaction in tandem with Danish Kaneria.
