2014 proved lucky for some popular TV stars as well. For the year brought them the much-awaited opportunity to make their Bollywood debuts. So yes, while their shows on the small screen helped them grab everyone's attention, their first film helped them make a mark. Take a look at the celebrities who were initially spotted in TV soaps/reality shows and went on to become popular in movies that were released this year.

Siddharth Shukla: When filmmaker Karan Johar signed TV actor Siddharth Shukla for upcoming film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya', he knew his role in the film would impress cine-goers. And that's exactly what had happened. Even though the film featured Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, he earned huge applause for his efforts.

Monali Thakur: Monali, who had initially participated in a popular reality show, may have wooed fans with her flawless singing potential. But when she accepted Nagesh Kukunoor's film 'Lakshmi', little did she know that she'd also be lauded for her acting prowess. While many thought Nagesh's film was a bit disturbing as it dealt with the serious issue of child prostitution, Monali's ability to portray the role with confidence, left an indelible impact on the viewers.

Jay Bhanushali: Many thought 'Hate Story 2' was a brainless and unconvincing film, and the screen space given to popular TV actor Jay Bhanushali unjustified. Jay Bhanushali could have done a lot better had his character been well etched out. Directed by Vishal Pandya and produced by Vikram Bhatt, 'Hate Story 2' featured bold scenes by Surveen Chawla and Jay.

Surveen Chawla: Surveen who had appeared in several regional films, made a special appearance in a song for 'Himmatwala' and did a cameo in 'Ugly'. But it was 'Hate Story 2' that helped her win her first full-fledged Bollywood role. Ever since the promotions of the film started, it started making headlines for its bold poster and scenes.
