Lucknow: In what came as a scathing attack on the former prime minister VP Singh the Samajwadi Party on Tuesday termed him as being cunning and sycophantic.
"We had made him (Singh) the prime minister of the country but he has now become a sycophant and cunning and ungrateful fellow," SP vice president Janeshwar Mishra said.
The accusation came on the occasion of completion of three years of the SP-led government in Uttar Pradesh.
SP General Secretary Amar Singh also lambasted the Jan Morcha leader for what he called, "shedding crocodile tears over the alleged plight of farmers in the state".
"VP Singh did not utter a single word on the land acquisition deal in Haryana with Mukesh Ambani. He did not think of ploughing the land in Haryana," Singh said.
Justifying the controversial land acquisition deal for the Reliance power project at Dadri, the leaders said due compensation had been paid to the farmers which was above the prevailing rate.
Amar Singh alleged that the Centre was "hatching a conspiracy" to stall the Dadri power project by not allowing supply of gas for the plant.
