New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi government to set up a committee to monitor nursery admissions which are currently going on in the Capital.

The committee - comprising Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Chairman Ashok Ganguly, Principal of Delhi Public School's R K Puram branch Shyama Chona, and a senior Delhi Government official - will make sure that the schools comply with the Ashok Ganguly Committee's guidelines for admissions to pre-nursery and nursery classes.

The committee has also been told to listen to objections and suggestions of schools where admissions are yet to begin and file reports in court on both by the next date of hearing - March 1.

The division Bench of judges M K Sharma and Sanjiv Khanna passed the directions when counsel for appellants in the case, Ashok Aggarwal, submitted that certain schools were not implementing the guidelines while admitting children.
