KOCHI: Adherence to food safety standards and  practices is very important for a consumer State like Kerala, said M Beena, who has been appointed the managing director of Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation. She was speaking at a Seminar on ‘New Food Safety Standard Awareness on FSSC 22000’ jointly organised by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Ladies Forum and the British Standard Institution (BSI) in Kochi on Monday. “Ensuring proper food standards and practices will result in consistent output. Food contamination can be classified into micro biological contamination, chemical contamination, foreign material contamination and economic adulteration. An appropriate risk management strategy is required to tackle this,” Beena said.KCCI Ladies Forum Convenor Jasmin Karim and KCCI chairman Deepak L Aswani presided over the function. Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association president K M Abdulla, AVT McCormick Ingredients Director and COO Sushama Srikandath, BSI MD Venkatram Arabolu, BSI India Food-Sector head Krishnamoorthy, South Business head Ramesh and KCCI secretarey Savio Mathew spoke.
