A juvenile released on bail in a murder case made his way back to the school. He says he is being 'discriminated'.

New Delhi: A juvenile released on bail in a murder case has made his way back to the school thanks to a court order. However, the 16-year-old alleges that he is facing discrimination from school authorities.

Son of a Delhi Police constable, Shyam (name changed) has been asked to attend classes separately and to leave the school during leisure periods to ensure the "safety" of other students.

"Though they gave admission to my child, he is being discriminated against. They placed a notice at the school's main gate, which says he is not allowed to stay in the school before and after class hours. He is not even permitted to stay during leisure periods," his father told PTI.

Shyam (name changed) got admission in Class XI in Delhi Police Public School (DPPS) in Safdarjung Enclave after the Delhi High Court, in an interim order last year, directed the institution to admit him to help him continue his studies after his release on bail.

"My brother and sister are studying in the same school and they are often subjected to humiliation by the authorities because of me," Shyam told PTI.

He claimed that anyone who interacted with him was taken to task by teachers and school staff. Shyam proudly showed off certificates of merit won by him in extra-curricular activities in the same school. Earlier, the school filed a revision petition in the High

Court against an order by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) that directed DPPS to grant admission to Shyam after his release on bail in a three-year-old murder case.

The High Court refused to stay the JJB's order and the school had to admit Shyam.
