Clarifying that the district administration had not shut the Susi Emu Farm, which has allegedly failed to return deposits to several investors, District Revenue Officer (DRO) S Ganesh on Tuesday said that the farm can continue to function if it settled its dues to the depositors.
When a group of depositors picketed the Collectorate in support of the farm and submitted a petition seeking its reopening, he clarified that the district administration had not closed down the unit.
“The unit holder is at large after some depositors lodged complaints with the police that he did not give the monthly incentive to them as assured. He has not come forward to settle the dues so far,” he said.
“Even now there isn’t any problem. He can settle the depositors’ dues and operate the farm as usual. Those supporting him can continue their deposits with the farm. If they want their deposits back, they can lodge a complaint with the police,” he suggested.
On an advertisement reportedly issued by a lawyer of the farm blaming officials and the police for the current mess, he refuted it saying, “We only intervened after several depositors complained that they did not get their monthly dues. There is no motive behind our action.”
