BANGALORE: To curb the rampant malpractice during admissions for under and post graduate courses, Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) officials have issued a notification to penalise students who block medical seats. According to the new rule, if a candidate chooses a seat during counseling at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, but does not report to the respective college, will be penalised to the tune of Rs1 lakh for post graduate courses and Rs 50,000 for undergraduate courses. Now, candidates who posses provisional seat allotment certificates will have to cough up Rs 50,000, if they do not surrender the seat before the second round of counseling. Similarly, if the candidate takes the confirmed seat and does not report to the college, the fee paid by the candidate will be forfeited to COMED-K.
