The talent hunt for the best short-film makers among students of communication media across the State culminated at the State-level film festival, organised by the department of communication media of Auxilium College on Thursday.
Fourteen short films, documentaries and feature films by the student filmmakers were exhibited on the occasion. They received feedback and advice from noted film director Balaji Sakthivel who was the chief guest. After careful analysis of technical quality, subject importance and creative richness, three movies were selected to receive cash awards.
Dr Eugini Fathima Mary, principal of the college complimented the efforts of the participants.
Short-films based on college life, rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl received sharp criticisms from the audience. Balaji Sakthivel explained the art of film making by providing valuable insights and tips to the participants. “It deepen your thinking processes,” he said, and advised them to focus on real life issues.
“The festival organised for the first time by Auxilium College enabled students to view best short-films made by their counterparts from other institutions, and the opportunity to interact with real technicians and film makers,” pointed out Sr Juliana Agnes Victor, head of communication media department. The fete was sponsored by Gorgeous Family Spa and Saloon.
