New Delhi: The Indian and New Zealand cricket teams took to the field in the Napier One-Dayer wearing black armbands to mark their protest against the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan players in Pakistan.
Unidentified gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan team bus in which six cricketers were wounded. The attack took place when the players were going to the Gadaffi Stadium for Day 3 of the second Test against Pakistan.
The Sri Lankan called off the tour and the team was airlifted from the stadium to Lahore airport from where they were taken to Dubai.
Pakistan news channels showed footage of gunmen with rifles firing at the team bus.
The driver of the bus carrying the cricketers said that the terrorists shot at his vehicle from all sides. A rocket fired from behind missed bus and hit an
electric pylon, he said and added that another terrorist lobbed a grenade that passed under the bus.
