Besides attending classes, reading books and completing assignments, students at the English and Foreign Languages University, more popularly known as EFLU, believe in making some time for fun. Some like to shop, other watch movies, and even more spend time in front of the computer screen chatting with friends. One of the most popular forms of letting out steam are sports.“Although I can not play badminton very well, I prefer it to shopping,” says Kurniasih Suherman, a MA student, continuing, “At least I get in some physical exercise while I am having fun!”Prastyo, an Indonesian MA student, agrees with Kurnaisih. “Every evening I make it a point to play a game or two of badminton with my friends in the EFLU playground,” he says, adding, “After I play, I feel so fresh!”For Saleamlak, a student from Ethiopia, football is the best way of letting off steam. “Football is my favourite sport! I play it every Saturday and Sunday at the Osmania University playground.”Chham Chhavirak, a Cambodian national and a former ITP member at EFLU, also loves football. “When I first came to India, I was very homesick. I used to play football to cheer myself up. Playing football helps me reduce my stress levels,” he opines, continuing, “Besides, it was through football that I met most of my friends!”Playing football not just a fun healthy game, believes Morm Rasy, another EFLU student. “Team sports are a great way to build solidarity and build team work skills! Whenever, I’m playing with a cooperative team, we always wins,” he says.Though MA student Ravi Kumar loves football, being true to his Indian nature, he loves cricket more. “I like playing cricket the most because cricket is the most well-known sport in India,” he says. His classmate Sajit agrees. “I really love playing cricket. In fact, I secretly dream of being a professional cricketer!”
