New York: Hit animated series 'The Simpsons' has paid a final tribute to the sassy Springfield Elementary teacher Edna Krabappel.

Actress Marcia Wallace, who voiced Mrs Krabappel, passed away in October, 2013 after a long battle with breast cancer. Wallace won an Emmy for her voice work on the 1992 Simpsons episode, 'Bart the Lover', reported New York Daily News

online.

The touching episode, which recently aired in the US, was entitled 'The Man Who Grew Too Much' and focused on the return of villain Sideshow Bob. The final scene was saved for a heartwarming moment in which Ned Flanders remembers his wife Edna and the pair dance together.

"I sure do miss that laugh," Flanders said.

Bart gave a quick chalkboard nod to Wallace's tragic passing back in November, scrawling on the board, "We'll really miss you Mrs K" in the opening credits sequence.

What's your reaction?
