The Dakshineswar Kali temple in West Bengal is one of the most popular spots in the state, a place visited by almost every Bengali. The devotees, unable to visit the holy place for any reason, have another option for its darshan. Another temple, also made for the devotion of Goddess Kalibari, is situated in a small town in the state.
As per the reports of Local18, the temple is located in Sudarshanpur, in Raiganj, West Bengal. One of the best qualities about this place is that its design is created to be similar to Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Dakshineshwar, Kolkata. It is smaller than the original.
Talking to Local18, the priest of the Temple, Ashok Chatterjee, stated that it is a traditional temple. It was constructed in 1952 and in 2024, it was renovated to look like the Dakshineswar Kali Temple and it was reopened to the public anew.
According to the information given, earlier, the Goddess was worshipped in a room made of tin and straw. But with the determination and the efforts of the locals, it was transformed into a magnificent place of worship. Soon, they plan to construct a throne, similar to the one at the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, for the goddess to rest.
Elderly people from places like Chopra, Islampur and more visit the place to engage in worship of the goddess. Due to their ages, many devotees are unable to go on a pilgrimage to the Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata. So, the similar-looking Raiganj temple is a great place to offer prayers for those devotees. According to Local18, the temple is now a “second Dakshineswar” for them.
The images shared by Local18 show the breathtaking external view of the temple, constructed exactly like the Kolkata Dakshineswar Temple. While the images captured from the inside, show the Goddess under a golden sanctum sanctorum.
