TIRUCHY: In a sudden twist in the murder of K N Ramajayam, the younger brother of former minister K N Nehru, a woman councillor of Thoothukudi Corporation and her husband were interrogated by the special team here on Friday.While the police are still clueless about the murder of Ramajayam, the special team gathered an information that M Santhi (28), councillor of ward 9 of Thoothukudi Corporation, had contacted the suspected phone numbers for a long time during the time when Ramajayam was murdered. Based on the information, Santhi along with her husband Manivannan was brought to Tiruchy for interrogation. “The special team conducted an inquiry with the councillor as they had to clear a series of queries and later she was sent back”, a police official said. It is said that a telephone call was made from a local booth from Ammamandapam to Santhi shortly after the murder.Meanwhile, the special team, which rushed to several locations across the State, has been interrogating several persons. They have also secured two men, who had come to Tiruchy on the day of murder based on the telephone calls. Previously, the city police had prepared a list of rowdies in the district and their previous case history and held enquiries with them. After this, cops felt that there was no involvement of local elements in the murder.
