New Delhi: Cases of women police personnel subjected to molestation and attacks have been on the rise with 14 such incidents reported this year till July 31.
The Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday that the number of cases recorded so far was equal to the cases reported in the past three years. Sixteen accused have been arrested in connection with the 14 cases, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran told the Lok Sabha in a written reply to a query.
In 2010, four such cases were registered in which as many persons were arrested. In 2011, the number of such cases was three and six accused were held, while in 2012 seven such incidents took place in which eight were arrested, he said.
Ramachandran said Delhi Police has been working ceaselessly for ensuring the safety of women. Immediate action has been taken on all cases reported to them.
