New Delhi: British Prime Minister Tony Blair is already making his retirement plans and is said to be looking for a job with "real purpose" after he steps down next year.
Blair spoke about plans for his retirement from Downing Street in a Christmas interview with BBC Radio 2.
"The single thing for me that is most important is that whatever I do afterwards it has a real purpose to it, that it is not just about doing a job," he told BBC Radio 2.
Blair has already indicated that he will leave the Commons at the next election and is unlikely to go to the Lords.
Some MPs expect he will join the lecture circuit while others think that he will write memoirs.
But his comments suggest that he would like some international role and is using his remaining months in Downing Street to try to revive stalled negotiations on a Palestinian-Israeli settlement.
