HYDERABAD: Two con-men who were cheating engineering students by introducing themselves as the recruiters of IBM, the prominent software company, were nabbed by Cyberabad police on Friday. Police said Aryapaka Prabhakar and Anumula Praveen approached Jayamukhi college of Engineering and Vaghdevi Engineering College in Warangal district posing as employees of IBM. After conducting campus interviews, Prabhakar and Praveen collected lakhs of rupees. Based on the press release issued by the managements of the engineering colleges on April 23, The New Indian Express (TNIE) reported about the recruitment drive in several engineering colleges of Warangal district. When IBM senior manager Sachendra Singh read the news report in TNIE, he was surprised. IBM was not conducting any recruitment drive in Warangal at that time. “Immediately, he lodged a complaint with us,” Madhapur sub-inspector Shiva Kumar told Express. Prabhakar, a MBA post-graduate who did his B.Tech from KITS Engineering college in Warangal, worked as a HR Executive at Florason India Companies, 24X7customer Pvt Ltd and later at IBM Daksh, Visakhapatnam. “After quitting IBM, he came back to Hyderabad and met one, Kiran Kumar Reddy, who taught him about how back-end recruitment is done in various corporate companies. After working for some time, Prabhakar parted ways with him. He later started duping students in the name of recruitment,” police said. Prabhkar befriended Praveen to assist him in his con operation.
