Moscow: The latest report of office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights distorts the situation on the Russia-Ukraine border, Russia's foreign ministry said on Friday.
"The authors of the document continue to follow their selective approach to the tragedy in the east of Ukraine and bluntly spin facts concerning the situation on the Russia-Ukraine border," Alexander Lukashevich, foreign ministry spokesman, said.
As a goodwill gesture, Russia has invited observers from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to monitor the situation and they "did not register any violations on the part of Russia", he said.
"On the contrary, Russian territory was on many occasions shelled from Ukraine, which resulted in casualties," the diplomat added.
"According to UN agencies, hundreds of civilians have fled Kiev's punitive operation to Russia, but our country's efforts to accommodate them were completely ignored," Lukashevich said.
