Firozabad: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a compensation of 20 lakh each to the families of two policemen who were shot dead in Firozabad on Sunday. UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said, "The two policemen who died in an encounter in Ferozabad, lost their lives to ensure law and order."
The incident led to a violent protest in the Ramgarh district, Firozabad. Protestors in Firozabad blocked the roads and were seen hurling stones and vandalising buses.
The officers were allegedly shot dead as they questioned two people suspected of committing a robbery. The assailants fled the crime spot immediately. The police have said that there might have been six assailants.
The police have started a manhunt for the shooters. No arrests have been made so far.
