UP on 24-hour Alert, Yogi Govt Freezes Transfer of Health Dept Officials Amid Monsoon Season
The entire system of the health department must remain on high alert 24 hours a day, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath asserted during the meeting.

With the monsoon season making its presence felt across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a directive to bolster the state’s preparedness for potential health challenges. In a recent meeting, CM Adityanath emphasised the critical need for proactive measures in light of the heavy rainfall that has led to concerns over waterlogging and potential floods in various regions. The entire system of the health department must remain on high alert 24 hours a day, he asserted during the meeting.

Addressing senior officials, the chief minister mandated a freeze on transferring Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and other doctors under the health department for the next three months. He underscored the importance of maintaining a stable healthcare workforce during this period, highlighting the sensitivity of the monsoon season to disease outbreaks.

Furthermore, anticipating the influx of pilgrims and devotees to the seasonal fair in Ayodhya, the chief minister stressed the need for immediate health services in case of emergencies. He directed officials to ensure timely arrangements for the convenience and safety of all attendees.

In coordination with various departments, a special campaign for infectious disease control has commenced from Monday, July 1, CM Adityanath announced. This initiative, conducted thrice annually, aimed to mitigate the spread of diseases effectively, he further added.

CM Adityanath emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination for the success of these campaigns, urging concrete efforts towards cleanliness and health security across sensitive areas. Departments including Medical and Health, Rural Development, Urban Development, Women and Child Development, and Education were called upon to enhance their collaborative efforts.

The directives issued by the chief minister reflect the state government’s proactive approach to managing public health challenges exacerbated by seasonal variations.
