Upset with father 11-yr-old girl commits suicide

BANGALORE: Dejected over family disputes, a 11-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging at her residence, in Peenya on Saturday.The deceased has been identified as Kavya, a class VI student.According to the police, the incident took place at around 6 pm, when Kavya was alone at home.The incident came to light when her neighbours grew suspicious, as the main door of the house was open for a long duration, and went to check what had happened.They found her hanging from the ceiling and informed her mother Sharadha, a garment factory worker.Preliminary investigations revealed that Kavya’s father Basavaraju, an unemployed person, had married four women and Sharadha was his third wife.He used to come home once in a year and threatened his wife for money.Dejected over her father’s behavior, Kavya took this extreme step. Peenya police registered a case in this connection.Woman hangs selfA 20-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Nagasandra in Peenya on Saturday.The deceased has been identified as Indra, a native of Boralakatte in Challakere.She was in love with Manjunath, a welder and had married him a couple of months ago.This was her second marriage.According to the police, the incident took place at around 2 pm when she was alone at home.When Manjunath returned from work, he found her hanging from the ceiling and informed the police.Investigations revealed that an year ago, Indra’s family was unhappy about her affair with Manjunath, and had forced her to get married to Channaveerappa, a weaver, in Ranganahalli.But Indra was not happy with the marriage and tried to contact her lover Manjunath over the phone.Manjunath had informed Channaveerappa about his affair with Indra.When Manjunath learned that Indra was married, he took her along with him and married her.Both were residing in a rented house for the last couple of months, the police said.Ten days ago Indra called her mother Gurusiddamma and expressed her desire to meet her.Unhappy about Indra’s wedding to Manjunath, her mother refused to meet her and said she would never see her again. Upset with her mother’s behaviour, Indra took the extreme step.A case has been registered in Peenya police station limits and investigations are on.
