USAF shoots down Sourav's cuisine
USAF personnel, in India to carry out joint air exercises with the IAF, will be served by Sourav Ganguly's restaurant.

Kolkata: Sourav Ganguly's haute cuisine restaurant, Sourav?s, will feed US Air Force personnel conducting joint exercises here.

US Air Force personnel, now in Kalaikunda to carry out joint air exercises with the IAF, will be served only sea fish and chicken and no red meat.

The hygiene- and health-conscious troops will not be consuming Indian dairy products and will only eat food cooked in olive oil.

Dairy products are being imported from Australia for the estimated 250 US troops participating in the 12-day war games that start on Monday with the Indian Air Force.

Sourav's clinched this lucrative catering deal in August after it was cleared by United States health department officials, who held a five-day workshop to train personnel at Sourav's in catering.

"They showed us how to handle and store food items hygienically, how to detect contamination in food, at what temperature to store or preserve various items," CEO of Sourav's Kanishka Majumdar said.

Neither Majumdar nor Ganguly were immediately available for comment.

Sourav's will set up a 50-staff kitchen in the nearby town of Kalaikunda where the exercises are being conducted.
