A functionary of the Vidudhalai Chiruthaigal Katchi was arrested on charges of assault and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a commuter, at Nungambakkam on Saturday night.
Sources said the arrest came following a complaint lodged by Sundar, a resident of MGR Nagar, after he was assaulted by a group of VCK men, while airing his grievances about traffic snarls to a TV channel, during the party’s protest on Friday against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s recent visit to India.
Investigation revealed that VCK leader Thirumavalavan’s secretary Ilan Seguera was one of the assailants and a special team arrested him at his residence .
