Veerapandi Arumugams son, aide surrender

SALEM : Koushika Boopathy, the political PA of Veerpandi S Arumugam, and Veerpandi A Raja, the ex-minister’s son finally surrendered in a Salem court on Friday in connection with Coimbatore Jewellers intimidation case to fulfil the bail conditions.Brother of Dr Murugesa Boopathy, the Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Koushika Boopathy is a co-accused with Veerpandi S Arumugam in the Angammal Colony, Dasanickentpatti, Premiere Mills land grab cases and also in the Coimbatore Jewellers intimidation case. He also holds the power of attorney for the Angammal Colony land.The Madras HC directed Koushika Boopathy to surrender before the Special Cell for Land Grab cases and undergo three days of custodial interrogation in the Angammal colony and Premiere mills land grab cases. But he failed to surrender and went underground. Hence, the police could not arrest him.Following this, he was also booked in the Dasanaikenpatti case and the court relaxed the three-day custodial interrogation exercise and told him to surrender which he failed to do so. When implicated in the Coimbatore Jewellers case he obtained a conditional bail from the Madras High Court which ordered him to surrender in the V Judicial Magistrate Court in Salem, execute surities and later sign in Flower Bazaar police station in Chennai. Koushika Boopathy also managed to obtain conditional bail in the Angammal Colony, Premier Mills and Dasanaikenpatti land grab cases on Friday. The IV JM court granted bail in the above three cases. Veerpandi A Raja, who was also at large, fulfilled the conditions on Friday at the JM 5 court in the Coimbatore Jewellers case as per Madras High Court order.
