Vellore ex-prisoners get rehabilitation aid

VELLORE: Principal District Judge P Kalaiarasan, distributed financial assistance to the tune of Rs 46,000 to four ex-prisoners, who had undergone imprisonment on charges of murder, and were released  subsequently, at a function held at the integrated court complex here.  The function was organised under the aegis of the Discharged Prisoners Aides Society(DPAS), as part of rehabilitation programme.Collector, president of the society, had approved the rehabilitation programme. Accordingly Parameswari of Ambur received utensils worth Rs 13,745 for running a tiffin eatery while Venkatesan of Arni received utensils worth Rs 17,315, Pandurangan of Ambur  got Rs 15,192 also to run eateries. Another person, Venkatesan of Arni received a sewing machine.The beneficiaries said, they would start a living with the assistance offered. Principal District Judge advised the beneficiaries to evolve as role models and  be good human beings.DRO Sundaravalli, vice president of the society Venkadasubbu, secretary Devikarani, legal advisor Vijayaraghavalu were present on the occasion.
