Is Social entrepreneurship a viable career opportunity?
Yes, felt the panelists at the ‘Changemakers Conclave’ under the aegis of the Center for Social Entrepreneurship Development (CSED) as part of the ongoing ‘Gravitas 2012’ knowledge festival at the VIT on Saturday.
The panelists -- Chandar Sundaram, a consultant from Bangalore, Sreekanth (CEO, Mahiti.org, Bangalore), Rohit Koshy (Country Head, ClearlySo India, Bangalore), Sreejith (Managing director, IROPE International, Chennai), Asger Trier Bing (Co Founder TrueGrid, Denmark), Ramakrishna (Co-Founder, Rang De, Bangalore), Ashutosh (Villgro, Chennai) and Dr Joshy Cherian (MD, Omega Ecotech Products India, Coimbatore) -- narrated their own experiences of how they were able to identify problems and find solutions by becoming successful social entrepreneurs.
“Opportunities are unlimited,” they pointed out adding, “challenges and failures are the motivations for the entrepreneurs.”
The panelists also underlined that the social entrepreneurs should focus on rural India as most of the commercial ventures were focused to cater to the needs of the urban rich.
“We can help our rural folks get a better life, get better income,” the panelists added further.
