Sangita Devi, an accused in a twin murder case, who had escaped from Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in the state capital three days ago, was on Wednesday arrested from a railway station in her native Jehanabad district.
"The police arrested her from a passenger train at Tehata railway station early this morning when she was travelling to a place between Gaya and Patna districts," Superintendent of Police (SP) Aditya Kumar said.
He said that the police had put her mobile phone on surveillance to track her movement and finally succeeded in arresting her when she was travelling by a passenger train from Gaya.
"She is the main accused behind the killing of Chunnu Sharma and Rakesh. The duo was allegedly strangulated by the woman with the help of her cousin and Munna Kumar with whom the victims had running dispute over property-related matters," the SP said.
Devi also told the interrogators that she had sold Chunnu Sharma's gold ring to a jeweller in Jehanabad, Kumar said, adding that the said ring has been seized from the jeweller.
The SP said that the arrested woman gave details about her movement since her escape from PMCH on July 21. She had gone to Patna City immediately after escaping from the premier hospital and then visited Chapra from where she went to several other places, he said.
The woman said that she also tried to take shelter at the places of her politician friends but all refused her, Kumar said.
