KADAPA: A 35-year-old woman, who got stuck between two boulders in the forest area of Sibyala village in Rayachoti mandal, was rescued after nearly seven hours of tireless efforts by officials in the wee hours of Thursday.The woman, Amaravathi of Kummarapalle village of Rayachoti mandal, is recovering form trauma and getting treatment for injuries on her legs at the Rayachoti Government hospital, when reports last came in. According to the police, revenue and fire personnel involved in the rescue act, Amaravathi got stuck between the boulders while trying to rescue a kid goat which got stuck between them.Amaravathi, as usual, had gone to herd her goats in forest area of Sibyala village. While returning home in the evening, she found that a kid was missing from the herd and went looking for it. She found that the kid got stuck between the boulders and tried to rescue it.But, she got herself struck between the same boulders. All her efforts to wrench free proved futile.Meanwhile, Amaravathi's husband Nageswar Reddy and other members of the family noticed that the goats have returned but not Amaravathi and went in search for her.Amaravathi, who heard her name being called, responded by shouting back and informed them where she was stuck. They found her stuck between the boulders.Nageswar Reddy, went back to the village and sought help of village head Ramprasad Reddy, explaining what had happened. Ramprasad Reddy alerted the police, revenue and fire personnel. Rayachoti tahsildar Chinnaiah, Urban CI Prakash Babu, fire officer Aswartha Naidu along with their men, rushed to the spot at around 9 pm. After initial efforts failed to free her, they engaged stone workers. They chipped away the boulders, taking care not to cause injuries to the woman. After nearly seven hours of tireless efforts, they rescued her at around 3:30 am.
