New Delhi: Be it winters or summers, you always look for a device - either an AC or a heater - to make the indoor spaces favourable for you. These appliances consume energy and, in turn, add to your electricity bill. What if you heat and cool your bodies instead of keeping surroundings at comfortable temperatures? Yes, it's possible now with Wristify.

Wristify is a bracelet that allows its wearers to control their individual thermal levels. It delivers pulsed thermal waveforms to the user's wrist, taking nuances of human thermal perception to create a pleasant experience that may be able to influence perceived thermal comfort.

The product is worn on the wrist and uses a combination of environmental monitors and user input to provide an optimal experience. The device is intended to be completely wearable, with a weight compared to a wristwatch. Wristify powers their wristband with a lithium-ion battery, similar to those used in cell phones. It can last a full day on a single charge, says the company.

"Currently, there is still a lot of technological and product development before we have a product ready for sale. We will soon begin working with design and development firms to improve the aesthetics and functionality of our next-generation prototype, and we continue to make progress on technology development on a daily basis. We estimate we're still 1-2 years away from our first publicly available product," says the company.

Wristify was developed by four members of the Materials Science & Engineering department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
