New Delhi: Xolo announced the launch of Hive, its proprietary user interface platform. Hive is available starting today and the first smartphone to run the new Hive UI is the company's new octa-core smartphone - the Xolo 8X-1000 - that made its debut on Wednesday alongside the Hive UI launch.

This Xolo 8X-1000 smartphone, with Hive Inside, is said to offer a host of new features and enhancements to change the way users interact with their device. "Built on an Android core, HIVE is a "Made in India, Made for India" platform," said Vishal Sehgal, co-founder & director, Lava International.

Hive comes pre-loaded on the Xolo 8X-1000. Powered by a true octa-core processor, the Xolo 8X-1000 has 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of memory onboard. Its memory is further expandable up to 32GB. An 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera are housed alongwith a 5-inch HD display in a glass body. The smartphone has a Asahi Dragontrail glass in front and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 at the back to protect it from scratches. The Xolo 8X-1000 with Hive Inside is priced at Rs 13,999.

According to the company, Hive gives users the power to "Connect" online with the software development team, share new ideas, and collaborate with like-minded technology enthusiasts. The best ideas that are voted up by the community are chosen by the development team, which then are rolled out as OTA updates. The Connect feature under Hive also allows users to report bugs and find service centres.

Edge, which is claimed to be another core feature of HIVE, brings creative community closer to users. Edge provides a platform for the budding artists in various genres to design exclusive content as themes, ringtones and wallpapers. Xolo has partnered with a set of niche Indian designers, each of them with their own areas of design expertise, to create a range of themes for consumers to choose from. Whether it is the lock screen, the apps, its icons, colours, system wide controls, widgets, or even the experience within individual apps, Hive has a range of wholesome themes that blend themselves perfectly to the minutest detail, said the company in its press release.
