Garlic is known to be a root vegetable filled with health benefits for all. From being a natural antibiotic to resolving the common cold and managing blood sugar levels, garlic plays a crucial role. While having garlic during the winter season keeps the body warmer and prevents seasonal diseases, in summer consuming garlic should be avoided.

According to an associate professor of Aligarh Ayurvedic Medical College in Uttar Pradesh, Dr Saroj Gautam told News18 that people should try to consume less quantity of garlic in food during the summer season. According to Dr Gautam garlic provides heat to the body and increases the temperature when consumed. Hence, avoiding the same would be a wiser decision during the summer season.

Dr Gautam suggested that certain people should avoid having garlic during summer, while others can reduce the quantity.

People who have issues like hypertension or high blood pressure should not consume garlic in any season as having it can raise the blood pressure level rapidly. Apart from the ones having BP issues, people suffering from acidity and gas problems should avoid it during the summers. According to experts, eating garlic can trigger issues of gas and acidity.

Many people feel a lot of heat in the stomach during summer and have the problem of a burning sensation. For such people, eating garlic can be dangerous. Garlic has a hot nature, which can increase the burning sensation.

In Ayurveda, garlic is also considered harmful for high cholesterol patients. Apart from this, consuming garlic while having lost motion can increase the problems.

It is commonly used as a flavouring ingredient in daily food items. It has a unique taste and adds a strong flavour to the recipes. Traditionally, garlic has been used as a treatment for many health issues due to its magical medicinal properties. Crushing a garlic clove will release the sulphur compound allicin which has fantastic health benefits.
